SARGODHA, Oct 27 (APP):A massive Rs. 14 billion mega sewerage system project is set to begin on November 24, 2025, aimed at overhauling Sargodha city’s outdated drainage infrastructure.
Commissioner Sargodha Division Jehanzeb Awan was briefed on the ambitious project by a team of experts from NESPAK during a meeting on Monday. The project, initiated under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, will be completed in two phases over 24 months.
The sewerage system project is divided into two zones: Zone A, estimated at Rs. 7.13 billion, and Zone B, costing Rs. 6.91 billion. Both zones have received formal approval, and the tendering process is already underway.
As part of the initiative, outdated disposal stations will be replaced with modernized infrastructure, and three major storage tanks are proposed to be built at Block No. 31, Company Bagh, and Rehmat-ul-Alameen Park. The plan also includes the installation of modern sewerage machinery, screening plants, and other essential facilities to improve the overall drainage system.
During the meeting, Commissioner Jehanzeb Awan emphasized the importance of this project as a long-term solution to Sargodha’s chronic drainage issues. He urged the authorities to ensure strict quality control and timely project completion.
“This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for urban welfare and sustainable development,” the Commissioner noted, adding that the project will pave the way for a cleaner, more resilient Sargodha infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Director Development Bilal Hassan, MD WASA Muhammad Abu Bakar Umar, CO Municipal Corporation Majid Bin Ahmad, Deputy Director Development Mehtab Yaseen, and technical experts from NESPAK.
