Rs 6m spent on police employees, retirees, martyrs families

KHANEWAL, Nov 27 (APP): District Police Officer (DPO) Ismail Kharrak has accelerated a wide range of welfare initiatives for police personnel and their families utilizing well over Rs 6 million to support serving and retired employees, as well as families of police martyrs.
The welfare measures included disbursement of financial assistance cheques, medical support for officers and their dependents, improved housing facilities, enhancement of duty points, and the upgradation of police messes and barracks.
Police spokesman said in a statement that during the current year, a police driver, constable Munir Baqar, underwent a leg implant surgery funded under the welfare programme. Additionally, the roof of a retired Class-IV employee’s house was constructed, while medical assistance was provided to ASI Tahir Hussain, whose leg was amputated due to diabetes. Constable Muhammad Fazal received support for treatment of blood cancer.
In another significant step, registration process of plots for 14 police martyrs was completed, ensuring long-term security for their families. Welfare assistance was also extended to officers affected by floods, while educational support initiatives were launched to help the children of police employees.
DPO Ismail Kharrak emphasized that the welfare of police personnel remains the department’s top priority. “Police welfare is not just a policy—it is a continuous mission that we are pursuing with complete dedication,” he said.
He added that, under the directions of the provincial government and IG Punjab, facilities at police lines and police stations have been upgraded along modern standards.
