Rs 5.7bn mega development project launched in Lodhran

LODHRAN, Jan 02 (APP):Under a special initiative of the Punjab government, a mega development project worth Rs 5.7 billion will be implemented in Lodhran under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).
The project aims to significantly improve urban infrastructure in the district. Planned works include the installation of tuff tiles, development of a modern sewerage system, enhancement of water supply, and overall improvement of sanitation facilities.
Deputy Commissioner Lodhran Muhammad Ashraf stated that the Punjab government has introduced the largest development initiative in Lodhran’s history. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review progress on the project.
The deputy commissioner directed the concerned officials to expedite the master planning and tendering process to ensure timely execution of the scheme. He emphasized that work should proceed at an accelerated pace so that the public can benefit at the earliest.
He further instructed the Municipal Committee and WASA to work in close coordination for effective planning and execution, adding that the technical expertise of the Project Management Unit (PMU) and NESPAK would be utilized to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Muhammad Ashraf said that once the project design is finalized, a transparent tendering process will be completed. He added that upon completion, the PDP project will help resolve long-standing issues related to sanitation, paved streets, water supply, and water storage in the district.
A detailed review of the multi-billion-rupee PDP project was also conducted during the meeting.
