MULTAN, Nov 05 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presented yet another remarkable gift to the citizens of Multan, the approval of the Multan Avenue project under the “Prosperous Punjab, Restored Roads” initiative.
The project promised to usher in a new era of urban beautification, improved traffic flow, and enhanced commercial activity in the city.
Under the project, a nine-kilometer-long modern avenue will be constructed from Sydanwala Chowk to Sahoo Chowk. Commissioner Multan division, Aamir Karim Khan, laid the foundation stone of this landmark development, describing “Multan Avenue” as the city’s first modern infrastructure initiative that will ensure both civic convenience and economic growth.
Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan stated that the project carries an estimated cost of Rs. 2.89 billion and is officially targeted for completion by June 30, 2026. However, he has assigned the Highway Department a special task to complete the project by March 23, 2026, to minimize inconvenience to citizens. The project has been divided into eight packages, with construction being carried out simultaneously by three contractors to ensure timely completion.
He further explained that the project encompasses state-of-the-art urban infrastructure, including 206 modern streetlights, 34 monuments, 50 smart parking areas, an 8.5-kilometer service lane, a 5-kilometer parking zone, and a 14.5-foot-wide urban green corridor. Additionally, RCC drains with footpaths, a central median, walkways, landscaping, and a modern lighting system are being developed to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
Commissioner Khan said that “Multan Avenue” is a true reflection of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a developed, clean, and modern Punjab. “This initiative represents our commitment to providing citizens with a dust-free, safe, and environmentally pleasant urban space,” he added.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Multan Waseem Hamid Sindhu, City Police Officer Multan Sadiq Dogar, heads and officers of various departments, representatives of the civil society, distinguished citizens, and media personnel.
