RPO Rawalpindi inspects police stations, directs officers to ensure prompt justice
RAWALPINDI, Sep 21 (APP):Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa inspected several police stations and facilities in the city and directed officers to ensure prompt justice, courteous treatment of citizens and effective redressal of public complaints.
During his visits to Saddar Barooni, Civil Lines, Women and Cantt police stations, the Tahafuz Centre and SDPO Cantt Office, the RPO reviewed policing arrangements, record-keeping, the buildings, Moharrir offices, front desks, lock-ups, cleanliness and other administrative matters. Relevant police officers were also present.
Issuing directives to the officers, RPO Alpa said police stations were the first point of contact for citizens seeking justice and stressed that timely redressal of complaints and strengthening public trust in the police were among the department’s top priorities.
He directed officers to treat citizens with courtesy, dignity and respect, listen to their complaints on a priority basis and ensure prompt action strictly in accordance with law and merit.
The RPO made it clear that illegal detention at police stations would not be tolerated and directed officials to maintain lock-ups and all relevant records in accordance with the law.
He also instructed officers to ensure the early and transparent completion of investigations on merit, take effective action against habitual and proclaimed offenders, and further improve patrolling and security arrangements.
During his visits to the Women Police Station and Tahafuz Centre, the RPO reviewed facilities available to women complainants and directed officials to ensure that female visitors were treated with dignity and respect. He ordered prompt legal action and necessary assistance on their complaints.
RPO Alpa also inspected the daycare centre established at the Women Police Station and reviewed facilities available for the children of female police officers. He directed officials to ensure cleanliness, child safety, basic facilities and proper care at the centre.
The RPO directed police officers to take a personal interest in resolving public complaints and utilise all available resources to further improve the quality of policing and public service delivery.
