RAWALPINDI, Jul 03 (APP): Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz Alpa, along with Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak visited the route of the main procession of 7th Muharram to review the security arrangements.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, and other senior officials were also present during the visit.

The officials inspected key areas along the procession route and issued necessary instructions to ensure strict security.

RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa stated that over 6,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed to secure 17 processions taken on 7th Muharram in the Rawalpindi Region.

Overall, more than 14,000 officers and cops will be on duty throughout Muharram to maintain law and order.
RPO said that walk-through gates will be installed at all entry points of the processions. Participants will only be allowed to enter after a full body search, he added. The routes are being thoroughly searched for safety.
In addition, streets, roads, along the procession have been sealed.
RPO emphasized that the Code of Conduct issued by the Punjab government is being strictly followed in letter and spirit.
All security measures are being taken on the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab and the Inspector General of Police Punjab to ensure foolproof arrangements during Muharram, he concluded.
