VEHARI, Jun 06 (APP): An alleged robber was arrested after a shootout with police near here on Friday.
According to police, a team of crime control department was stationed at Kitab Qalam
Chowk when two suspects riding on a motorcycle appeared.
The police signalled them to stop, but they opened fire.
The police also returned fire in self-defence. After a brief encounter, one of the suspects identified as Muhammad Imran, resident of WB/011 of Vehari was found lying injured by the firing of his own accomplice.
The robber was involved in more than 39 cases of robbery, theft, and other street crimes.
A search operation was launched to arrest the fleeing suspect.
