MULTAN, Aug 07 (APP): District Emergency Officer (DEO) Dr. Muhammad Hussain Mian said that the Rescue 1122 responded to over 10000 help-seeking calls in Multan and rescued over 12000 people during July 2024.
Detailing statistics for July 2024, he stated that exactly 10357 emergency calls were responded to by Rescue 1122 including 2293 traffic accidents, 94 fire incidents, 290 brawl or crime incidents, one drowning incident, three (3) building collapse incidents, and over 6000 medical emergencies including heart attack, breathing trouble and Gynae.
Out of 12018 people, 4055 were shifted to hospital after first aid treatment while remaining 7502 were given treatment on the spot. In all these emergencies, total 461 persons were found dead, he added.
Moreover, patients referred to other hospitals for better treatment facilities were also provided safe transportation facility.
Dr. Hussain said that rescuers also rescued 25 animals in July 2024. The Rescue 1122 Multan Incharge said that they received total 55547 calls in July 2024 but only 10357 of them were genuine emergencies and appealed the people to activate Rescue 1122 service only when it’s a genuine emergency necessitating Rescue 1122 involvement.
He appealed the motorcycle riders to wear helmet while driving, avoid over-speeding and honor traffic rules to avoid risk of accidents.
