FAISALABAD, Jul 07 (APP):Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has provided on-spot medical aid to more than 3000 mourners on Ashura Muharram-ul-Haram in Faisalabad.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Zafar Iqbal visited the Command and Control Post on Ashura and inspected Rescue 1122’s operational set-up around the Central Imam Bargah and Clock Tower Chowk where special rescue posts were established to ensure timely emergency response.
He also evaluated the efficiency of arrangements in light of the large gatherings expected during mourning processions and Majalis.
In a statement, DEO Zafar Iqbal said that Rescue 1122 played a vital role in maintaining medical readiness and emergency preparedness throughout the day. He said that the service provided medical coverage to 20 Ashura gatherings (majalis) and 50 mourning processions across the city.
He said that mobile units and static posts remained on high alert in densely populated zones where the mourners participated in majalis and processions of Ashura Muharram-ul-Haram.
He said that more than 3000 mourners received immediate first aid on-site for injuries including minor cuts, fainting spells and dehydration due to the hot weather and crowd intensity.
More than 100 individuals with moderate to serious medical needs were promptly stabilized and transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment which is an evident of speedy and efficient response of Rescue 1122 teams, he added.
Meanwhile, the organizers of mourning processions and Ashura majalis expressed their gratitude for timely and professional medical support extended by Rescue 1122.
