MULTAN, Jul 10 (APP):District Emergency Officer of Rescue 1122 Dr Hussain Mian issued comprehensive safety guidelines to ensure protection of lives and property during the ongoing monsoon season and to effectively deal with any emergency situation.
The Rescue 1122 was fully alert and prepared, but the most effective defense is the public’s own caution and responsible behavior, he said.
He advised never touch electric wires or poles, especially when wet, stay away from broken or exposed wires and keep livestock away from electric poles.
Avoid sheltering under trees during thunderstorms as lightning strikes are more likely, be extremely cautious when using electrical appliances during rain.
Avoid walking or driving through standing or flowing water, prevent children from bathing or playing in the rain to avoid accidents.
Hidden obstacles or open manholes under water could cause serious injuries—stay alert, drive slowly and use low gears while it’s raining.
Keep headlights and fog lights on for better visibility, avoid sudden braking and high speeds to prevent accidents, do not go near rivers, canals, or storm drains during the monsoon season.
Be aware of fast-flowing water and the risk of flash floods or water surges, stay away from weak or old buildings and rooftops.
Dr Hussain Mian further emphasized that “All Rescue 1122 teams were fully prepared to respond to emergencies, but public awareness and cooperation are crucial. A safer society could only be built through joint efforts.”
Citizens were strictly advised to immediately call Rescue 1122 in any emergency.
