LAHORE, Nov 07 (APP):Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Friday said that labour and industry were dependent on each other and relationship between both must be strengthened.
Addressing the National Workers Convention 2025, held at Alhamra Hall here, he said that there was a need to increase resources besides improving laws for the welfare of the workers.
The Speaker said, “Industry is nothing without workers and their exploitation will not be tolerated.”
Punjab Minister for Industries Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that workers played vital role for stability of the country’s economy. He said that rights of workers would be protected, and added that Punjab CM had increased wages of workers substantially.
Punjab Minister for Labour Manshaullah Butt said that unprecedented measures had been taken for welfare of workers in line with the direction of Punjab CM. He said that over 1.5 million workers were being provided ration cards. He said, “When workers will be prosperous, Pakistan will develop.”
During the convention, the Punjab Minister for Industries and Punjab Minister for Labour distributed death and marriage grant cheques among workers.
A special tribute was paid to Sheikh Mohsin Ilyas on his election as member of the governing body of Workers Welfare Board Islamabad.
