RDA to issue final notices to illegal housing schemes, initiate disconnection of utility services
RAWALPINDI, Nov 04 (APP):The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to intensify its crackdown on illegal housing societies across the district by issuing final notices and recommending the immediate disconnection of electricity and gas supplies to non-compliant schemes.
According to official sources, the RDA’s Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate, in coordination with the Enforcement Squad, has finalized a comprehensive strategy to curb unapproved residential developments.
Under the revised plan, the authority will send formal letters to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) to disconnect utility connections of all illegal housing schemes operating without approved layouts and clearance certificates.
Furthermore, the RDA has directed all real estate developers, builders, and management of housing projects to ensure mandatory registration on the Housing Scheme Management System (HSMS) portal.
Failure to complete the registration within the stipulated timeframe will result in strict legal action, including the sealing of site offices, demolition of illegal structures, and insertion of public notices warning citizens against financial investments in unauthorized projects.
The authority has advised the general public to verify the legal status of housing societies on the official RDA website before making any commercial or residential property transactions.
