RDA takes action against illegal marketing of a private housing scheme
RAWALPINDI, Sep 21 (APP):The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken action against the illegal advertising and marketing of Signature City Housing Scheme, formerly known as Century Town, located in Mouza Gurha Bherta and Begga Sheikha, through social media, WhatsApp, YouTube, and other online platforms.
According to the RDA spokesperson, Signature City was an illegal housing scheme, and its sponsors carried out publicity and marketing activities without obtaining the requisite approval from the competent authority.
The RDA has already initiated legal proceedings against the concerned persons, including the issuance of a notice under Section 12(5) of the relevant law. The Authority has also referred the matter to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Rawalpindi, seeking action against the illegal online advertisements under the applicable laws and regulations.
The spokesperson said that under Rule 46(1) of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2021, sponsors were not permitted to advertise or offer plots or housing units for sale through print or electronic media, or in any other manner, without prior approval of the Authority.
The RDA has advised citizens to verify the legal and approved status of private housing schemes through its official website before purchasing plots or making any investment. Citizens have also been advised not to rely on advertisements, social media campaigns or claims made by housing scheme sponsors without verification from the competent authority.
The spokesperson said the RDA had also sent letters to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, Chairman IESCO, General Manager SNGPL, General Manager PTCL, District Collector and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding illegal advertisements of private housing schemes on social media.
He said the owners/developers had allegedly made incorrect claims of having obtained an NOC from the RDA.
The RDA would continue enforcement action against illegal housing schemes and unauthorised activities to protect citizens from fraudulent or misleading investment offers and ensure compliance with the law, he added.
