RAWALPINDI, Jul 19 (APP):In a decisive operation against illegal/unauthorized constructions, the Enforcement Squad od Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) sealed 17 illegally established commercial properties in the Midcity Apartments on Service Road, Mauza Gangal, here Saturday.
Acting under the directives of Director General RDA, Kinza Murtaza, the operation was led by the RDA Enforcement Squad with the support of the Old Airport Police Station. The team included the Assistant Director of Building Control, building inspectors, and other RDA officials.
The sealed properties include 10 offices, two apartments, one restaurant, and four hotels, notably among them Overseas Requirement Agency, Ghouri Town Offices, W B Centers, and J.D. Aviation, among others.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the owners of these properties were found in violation of approved plans and maps. They breached the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020 by constructing illegal commercial buildings without approval or No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The DG of RDA has directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to enforce strict measures against encroachments, unauthorized constructions and commercial activities impartially. Furthermore, the Building Control Wing has been tasked with surveying fees and charges related to the approval of illegal residential and commercial buildings, commercialization, and complementary building plans to regularize all such structures within RDA’s jurisdiction.
The RDA urges the general public to take moral responsibility in removing any form of encroachment to prevent further losses.
