RAWALPINDI, Nov 15 (APP): The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), acting on the directions of the Secretary, Housing Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department, Captain (Retired) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, has initiated strict compliance measures to curb alleged illegal activities in the University Town Housing Scheme.
According to an RDA spokesman, the Authority, under the supervision of its Director General, Kinza Murtaza, has ordered the Scheme’s owner, Jamil Khan, to immediately hand over its management, administrative control and all relevant records. In case of non-compliance, the Authority will proceed to take over the Scheme under applicable regulations.
The Director General has also established a dedicated Complaint Registration Cell at the RDA to receive and process complaints from allottees, residents, applicants and members of the public regarding the Scheme.
Following a probe report submitted by a committee reviewing the Scheme’s affairs, the Authority has issued formal notices to M/s University Town Pvt. Ltd. and several senior officers, including the Chief Planner, Director Town Planning, Director Land, Deputy Director Town Planning, Deputy Director IT and Deputy Director Estate Management.
As part of disciplinary actions, three officers, two superintendents and a draftsman have been suspended for failing to prevent illegal activities in the Scheme and for lapses in enforcing the Authority’s regulations.
The Director General has further constituted a committee to conduct a technical and financial audit of M/s University Town Pvt. Ltd., with the Deputy Director Audit as convener and the Deputy Director Town Planning and Assistant Director Estate Management as members.
Joint Investigation Team member Umar Siddique Khattak welcomed the directives issued by the Secretary Housing and praised the Authority’s implementation measures.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to transparency, public protection and strict regulatory enforcement across all housing schemes under its jurisdiction.
