RAWALPINDI, Jul 01 (APP):The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has formulated a comprehensive plan to address emergencies during the upcoming monsoon season, as heavy rainfall is forecasted in Punjab.
“RCB has established a dedicated emergency response team comprising trained personnel equipped to handle monsoon-related challenges”, said Additional CEO RCB, Arshad Khan in a brief interaction with APP.
He said that the RCB has put special focus on vulnerable areas exposed to waterlogging, and has deployed additional drainage systems to prevent flooding.
“We have cleaned and desilted 25 major nullahs and drains out of total 29 to ensure smooth water flow,” Arshad said.
The RCB has also collaborative connectivity with other relevant authorities to monitor weather updates and issue timely public advisories.
“Emergency situation room will be set up to assist residents, while mobile rescue teams are on standby to address urgent situations”, he added.
The Add’l CEO said that the RCB is launching a campaign to educate residents on safety measures during heavy rainfall.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of residents while minimizing disruptions,” he added.
He urged citizens to refrain from visiting rain drains or low lying areas during the rains.
