RAWALPINDI, Oct 31 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police, led by City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, have reported a substantial and continuing decline in major crime categories over the past two years, reflecting more effective policing and sustained enforcement efforts.
According to a spokesman for the Rawalpindi Police, crime figures for 2024 fell markedly compared with 2023, while the ongoing year has shown an even steeper reduction across key offences.
He said that incidents of car snatching dropped by 83 per cent this year, while snatching of other vehicles declined by 78 per cent. Motorcycle snatching decreased by 41 per cent, car theft by 38 per cent, and theft of other vehicles by 54 per cent.
He added that robbery cases fell by 23 per cent and dacoity incidents by 20 per cent.
The spokesman stated that although crime levels had already shown a downward trend last year, this year’s performance pointed to further progress and reflected the lowest crime rate recorded in recent years.
He noted that the sustained fall in crime demonstrated effective, coordinated and intelligence-driven policing across the district.
The Rawalpindi Police, he said, remained committed to safeguarding citizens, protecting life and property, and ensuring timely access to justice.
