RAWALPINDI, Oct 08 (APP):Health authorities in Rawalpindi district reported a hike in dengue fever, with 30 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the year’s total to 865. However, no fatalities have been recorded so far, but 75 patients remain admitted in hospitals.
Enforcement actions have ramped up against violations of dengue SOPs for larva control. The authorities registered 4,455 FIRs, sealed 1,850 premises, issued 3,493 challans, and imposed fines totaling over Rs 10.87 million.
“These punitive measures serve as strong measures to ensure public cooperation in eliminating breeding sites,” the District Health Authority (DHA) Spokesman, Dr Waqar, said while talking to APP.
He highlighted that the 30 new cases emerged across 24 hotspots in the district, signaling widespread but localized transmission.
He urged the residents to remove stagnant water from containers, rooftops, and drains to break the Aedes mosquito lifecycle.
“With no deaths reported, our proactive surveillance is producing results, but community vigilance is crucial to keep the situation under control,” he said.
Dr Waqar indicated that due to recent rain and lowering temperatures, urban density and inconsistent sanitation could fuel further rises. He further reiterated that the health authority remained committed to the maximum larvicidal destruction and enforcing the implementation of dengue SOPs.
Dr Waqar also shared details of the affected areas where 30 cases emerged in 24 hours, and said the health teams were dedicated to these areas.
“Affected areas include Bani, Dhoke Mangtal, Pindora, Bijnyal, Dhama Syedan, Gangal, Pirwadahi, Chak Jalal Din, Dhamyal, Khayaban-Shumali, Qayumabad, CTC-10, Dhoke Dalal, Kotha Kallan, Ranyal, CTC-9, Dhoke Kala Khan, Kulyal, Ratta Amral, CTR-13, Dhoke Kashmirian, New Parian F-Block, Rehmatabad, and Takhat Pari”.
He said that the health authority continues its multi-pronged strategy, including fogging drives and public education campaigns.
