RAWALPINDI, Oct 31 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police, on the directives of the Punjab government, have decided to launch an intensified crackdown against multiple offences across the district, including violations of the Loudspeaker Act, wall chalking, illegal weapons and unlawful residency of Afghan and other foreign nationals.
A spokesman for the Rawalpindi Police said on Friday no individual would be permitted to use loudspeakers or engage in wall chalking, warning that offenders would face legal action.
He added that promoting hatred, disorder or incitement through wall chalking or loudspeaker use could lead to charges under terrorism-related provisions.
The spokesman said that during the past three days, seven cases had already been registered and seven individuals arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act.
He added that Section 144 was in force across Punjab and its enforcement would be ensured without exception.
According to the spokesman, Afghan and other foreign nationals residing illegally were prohibited from purchasing property or acquiring shops, houses or other premises on rent. Any violation of property and tenancy restrictions would invite strict action, he said.
He stated that over the past three days, the police had registered 51 cases and detained 163 undocumented Afghan nationals, who were shifted to the holding centre.
Ensuring full implementation of the law and upholding the rule of law remained a foremost priority, the spokesman added.
