RAWALPINDI, Dec 30 (APP): The Rawalpindi Police on Tuesday organised awareness walks in various areas, including the Arid Agriculture University and Sadiqabad, to discourage kite flying and celebratory firing ahead of New Year’s Eve, a police spokesperson said.
The walks, conducted under the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, saw participation from Assistant Superintendent of Police New Town, Station House Officer of Sadqabad, university administration officials, students, representatives of traders’ associations, and local residents.

The officials warned that kite flying was a non-bailable offence punishable by three to seven years in prison. The participants were urged not to engage in firing, fireworks, or any unlawful activity during the New Year celebrations.
The spokesperson further advised parents to educate their children about the dangers of kite flying and the legal consequences of violations, adding that strict action would be taken against offenders.
