RAWALPINDI, Feb 12 (APP): The Rawalpindi Police detained 55 individuals and registered 49 cases against those violating the Tenancy Act, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
He said the action was carried out across the police stations of Nasirabad, Civil Lines, Westridge, Wah Cantt, Saddar Wah, New Town, Cantt, Gujar Khan, Mandra, Saddar Baironi, Dhamial, Rawat, Chauntra, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan.
According to the spokesman, the crackdown is ongoing, with daily search operations being conducted under the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani. Over the past two days, a total of 81 cases have been registered and 93 individuals have been taken into custody for violations.
The CPO urged citizens to register their tenants and employees at the relevant police station, police service centre, or via the Punjab Police mobile app to maintain law and order. He added that violations of the Act should be reported immediately to the nearest police station, with informants’ identities kept strictly confidential.
Failure to register tenants constitutes a punishable offence, the spokesman warned.
