RAWALPINDI, Feb 06 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police deployed over 1,200 personnel to prevent kite flying and celebratory firing, officials said on Friday.
A spokesman said senior officers were present in the field, supervising arrangements, with mobile units and the Dolphin Force carrying out special patrols across the city.
Monitoring was also being conducted from the rooftops of high-rise buildings, and drones and other modern technical resources were being used for area surveillance.
The police, the spokesman added, “have held awareness walks and put up banners to inform citizens, and announcements are being made in mosques to discourage kite flying and firing”.
He warned that property owners whose rooftops were used for kite flying would face action.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani urged the residents to discourage kite flying and celebratory firing. He said all available resources were being utilised to prevent such activities.
The citizens could report kite flying or celebratory firing to the emergency helpline at 15, the CPO said.
