RAWALPINDI, Mar 05 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police on Wednesday got arrested a proclaimed offender, Muhammad Rameez, who had shot injured a citizen in the Sadiqabad area, from Dubai, United Arab Emirates with the help of Interpol.
According to a police spokesman, the criminal had fired and injured citizen Hassan Shaukat in May 2023 when the later tried to prevent him from fighting. The accused went into hiding after incident and later fled to Dubai.
The special cell headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Azhar Shah, formed on the instructions of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, to trace and arrest the accused who have fled abroad, completed the legal process and issued a red warrant for the accused Muhammad Rameez and got him arrested from Dubai with the help of Interpol.
A police team comprising Inspector Tariq Bin Aziz, ASI Saqib Farooq and Musawar Hayat had taken the custody of the accused in Dubai and was on the way back to Rawalpindi, the spokesman said.
CPO Hamdani said that the specially established cell had been engaged in the legal process to arrest the accused who have fled abroad involved in 49 cases during the last six months.
He said Muhammad Rameez’s arrest from Dubai was the first one –a message for the criminals who had fled abroad that they could not escape from the long arm of the law.
