RAWALPINDI, Jan 15 (APP):The Rawalpindi Police arrested 15 suspects and seized more than 2,000 kites and dozens of spools of string during an ongoing district-wide crackdown, a police spokesperson said on Thursday.
The spokesperson said on Thursday that the action, launched on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, focused on suppliers involved in the illegal trade of kites and string.
He said the Dhamial Police arrested one suspect and recovered 500 kites and 15 spools of string. The Pirwadhai Police detained two suspects and seized 430 kites and five spools, while the Taxila Police apprehended three suspects, recovering 300 kites and five spools.
The Wah Cantt Police nabbed one suspect and seized 250 kites, while the Sadiqabad Police arrested two suspects and recovered 185 kites and two spools. The Wah Saddar Police also detained two suspects and seized 158 kites.
The Chaklala Police arrested two suspects and recovered 105 kites and four spools, while the Westridge Police held one suspect and seized 100 kites and two spools. The Ganjmandi Police detained one suspect and recovered 50 kites and two spools.
The spokesperson said separate cases had been registered against all suspects.
He said kite flying was a non-bailable offence and warned that those involved in the dangerous practice would not escape the law, adding that indiscriminate action against violators would continue.
