LAHORE, Feb 10 (APP): A Ramzan Bachat Festival will be organised from February 13 to 15 at Jilani Park, Lahore, aimed at providing the public with quality essential food items at subsidized rates ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.
Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Asim Javed chaired a meeting with all relevant stakeholders to review and finalize arrangements for the festival, here on Tuesday.
The meeting was briefed in detail on administrative measures, pricing mechanisms and food safety protocols to ensure smooth execution of the initiative.
Addressing the meeting, the DG said that, in line with the chief minister’s instructions, special relief stalls would be established to facilitate citizens and provide tangible relief before the start of Ramzan. He said essential commodities including flour, ghee, pulses, sugar, rice, fruits, vegetables and other food items would be available at prices lower than the open market.
Asim Javed said that special discounts would be offered on all commodities at the festival, adding that strict measures had been put in place to ensure food safety and quality. Punjab Food Authority teams would remain present throughout the event to conduct continuous monitoring and inspections, he added.
He said that all stalls would be closely monitored to ensure compliance with approved prices and quality standards, while uninterrupted supply of food items would also be ensured during the three-day festival.
The DG said that, along with food stalls, various activities highlighting local culture, traditions and regional colours would also be part of the festival, making it a family-friendly event. In accordance with the chief minister’s directives, special arrangements would be made to provide a safe, pleasant and public-friendly environment for families.
Asim Javed expressed confidence that the availability of affordable and quality food items before the commencement of Ramzan would provide significant relief to people from all walks of life, and reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to facilitating citizens during the holy month.
