Rain, storms claim four lives, injure 40 across Punjab in 24 hours

LAHORE, Jul 10 (APP):At least four people died and 40 others sustained injuries across the province due to heavy downpours and storms over the past 24 hours.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said on Thursday that in Sheikhupura’s Mirza Virkaan area, two children, 2-year-old Arham and 5-year-old Hurram, lost their lives after a roof collapse, while two others sustained injuries. On Sheesh Mahal Jandiala Road, a child was injured following a wall collapse. In Jhamke village, a bamboo roof collapse injured two people, and another person was hurt due to a roof collapse in Narang Mandi.
In Vehari, incidents of roof and wall collapses in areas including 23WB, Muslim Town Stop, 19WB, and 57WB resulted in injuries to four individuals. A separate incident involving falling solar plates in Chak No. 59WB injured a person.
Bhakkar’s Link Road area also saw one person injured after a wall collapsed. Meanwhile, in Dera Ghazi Khan’s PEG City area, three individuals sustained injuries when a roof caved in.
In Attock’s Babu Chowk, Chunggi Number 07, heavy rains and urban flooding trapped a family inside their home, leaving six people injured. Rescue teams promptly provided medical aid and evacuated the victims to safety.
In Lahore, near the railway station, a two-year-old girl, Zainab, died, and two others were injured following a roof collapse.
Lahore reported several injuries: a man was hurt in Harbanspura due to a bike slipping on the wet road, and another sustained injuries after falling near the New Ravi Bridge. Additional injuries were reported from bike slips in Ali Raza Abad and Wahdat Colony. In Nashtar Colony, a roof collapse claimed the life of 50-year-old Bashir and injured two others. Roof collapses on Ashiana Road and Ichhra Ganj Bakhsh Road resulted in injuries to three more people.
In Sahiwal near Al Aman Garden and Chak 81/5L each saw one person injured. Okara’s Muzaffar Colony 5/4L witnessed two injuries due to roof collapse, while a wall collapse in Chak 6/4L caused one injury.
In Sialkot’s Chak Gullan Diska, a roof collapse injured one person, and in Rajanpur’s Kotla Malam, falling solar plates injured another individual.
The Rescue 1122 Punjab spokesperson urged the public to exercise caution amid ongoing adverse weather conditions.
