Railways retrieves occupied lands worth millions of rupees on Taxila-Havelian section

RAWALPINDI, Jun 02 (APP): The Pakistan Railways has retrieved its land worth millions of rupees from illegal occupation on the Taxila-Havelian section.

“The Pakistan Railways, Rawalpindi Division today successfully completed an effective operation which was conducted on the special instructions of Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi against illegal encroachments on the railway land located on Taxila-Havelian section,” a PR spokesman said on Monday.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Property and Land Branch Rawalpindi and Assistant Inspector of Works/Taxila and with the assistance of Railways Police.

During the operation, land worth millions of rupees between Haripur and Sarai Saleh stations was recovered from illegal occupants. Various types of concrete structures were constructed on the recovered land, including houses, shops and walls.

The spokesman said all legal requirements were fulfilled before the operation, which was carried out without any pressure or discrimination as per the policy of Railways. The local administration was also taken into confidence.

“The aim of this step is to secure the valuable land of Railways and prevent any kind of encroachment in the future,” he added.

The spokesman appealed to the public to refrain from any illegal construction or occupation on the Railways land.

“Legal action will continue against violators without discrimination,” he warned.
