RAWALPINDI, Nov 28 (APP): The Pakistan Railways carried out an operation against land grabbers in the Rawalpindi Division, demolishing illegal constructions and recovering railway land worth millions of rupees, a spokesman told APP on Friday.
He stated that the mafia had occupied 60 marlas of railway land on the Sukho Section in Mandra, erecting unlawful structures.
The constructions were demolished using heavy machinery, restoring the land to the Pakistan Railways.
According to the spokesman, the operation, conducted on the special instructions of the Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, aimed to protect railway land and assets, eliminating their unauthorised occupation.
He added that the Pakistan Railways was maintaining strict adherence to its zero-tolerance policy and that actions against encroachments would continue without interruption.
Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said railway lands were national assets and any illegal construction or occupation would not be tolerated.
He stressed that safeguarding land was crucial for the rehabilitation, development, and planning of the Pakistan Railways.
The spokesman further appealed to the public to assist in protecting government property and promptly report any suspicious or illegal activity to the Pakistan Railways authorities to ensure complete elimination of encroachments and protection of national assets.
