QUETTA, Feb 22 (APP): Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the district administration of Quetta has intensified efforts to provide maximum relief to citizens during the holy month of Ramazan.
An evening review meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini, assessed arrangements for Ramazan, price control measures, the performance of subsidized markets (Sasta Bazaars), and the fair distribution of ration supplies.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar, assistant commissioners, price control magistrates, and other relevant officials, who presented detailed reports on ongoing measures in their respective areas.
Deputy Commissioner Badini emphasized that providing relief to the public during Ramazan is the administration’s top priority, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.
He directed officials to ensure the abundant availability of essential food items including flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, and vegetables at Sasta Bazaars and other designated points, strictly at government-notified prices.
Price control magistrates were instructed to conduct daily inspections to monitor compliance. The Deputy Commissioner ordered indiscriminate action against hoarding and artificial price hikes, warning that profiteering would not be tolerated. Strict measures including fines, sealing of shops, and legal proceedings will be taken against violators.
Officials were directed to keep an effective complaint redressal system fully operational to ensure swift resolution of public grievances. The meeting also stressed maintaining quality standards and cleanliness at subsidized markets, while improving facilities for women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The district administration urged citizens to cooperate in ensuring compliance with official price lists and to report cases of overpricing or hoarding to the relevant authorities for immediate action.
