LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP):Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt visited the home of Rukhsana Amjad, a woman who was brutally assaulted in the Mustafaabad area of Lahore, on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
She assured the victim and her family of full legal, medical, and psychological assistance from the Punjab government and directed police to ensure the immediate arrest of all suspects and a transparent investigation.
According to initial reports, a woman named Maham, along with her male accomplices, forcibly entered the victim’s house and physically assaulted her after the victim tried to prevent Maham from marrying her husband.
Condemning the incident, Hina Parvez Butt said that breaking into a woman’s home and assaulting her is an intolerable act that will be dealt with strictly under the law. She said that there will be no compromise on women’s safety in Punjab, adding that all efforts of the Punjab Women Protection Authority are guided by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a Safe Punjab for Women, ensuring their protection, empowerment, and access to justice.
