Punjab taking concrete action against corruption : Azma Bokhari

LAHORE, Nov 07 (APP):Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that Punjab is the only province taking concrete measures and effective action against corruption instead of merely making statements.
In a statement issued on Saturday, she said that Anti-Corruption Punjab was functioning as a transparent institution, while strict departmental action was being taken against corrupt elements through effective internal accountability mechanisms across provincial departments.
She said that, on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the use of body cameras was being ensured in the police, Punjab Emergency Services and other relevant departments. CCTV cameras were also being used to monitor government institutions, preserve digital evidence and strengthen efforts to curb corruption.
Azma Bokhari said there was no room for favouritism or bribery in Punjab, adding that the provincial government was committed to transparency, merit and accountability, and corruption would not be tolerated at any level.
She further said that Punjab’s performance was receiving international recognition, but certain unemployed individuals were working round the clock to malign the province in pursuit of employment opportunities.
She remarked that when securing a job became the sole objective, the performance of Punjab and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif became a source of constant frustration for such elements.
