LAHORE, Oct 17 (APP):Punjab remains calm and stable today (Friday) as all markets, business centres, and educational institutions across the province, including Lahore, continue to operate normally.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said that citizens and the business community have outrightly rejected the strike call issued by certain disruptive elements.
The spokesperson added that traffic and public transport are running smoothly in all cities, while major highways such as the Motorway, GT Road, and Ring Road remain fully open to commuters. “There is no disruption to traffic or daily life anywhere in Punjab,” the spokesperson emphasised.
Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, are on high alert to ensure the safety and security of lives and property. Police forces have been deployed at markets, business districts, highways, and other vital locations.
Strict action will be taken against any attempts at unrest, with cases to be registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act against troublemakers, the IGP warned. Utilizing Safe City cameras, facial recognition technology, vehicle registration monitoring, and artificial intelligence, law enforcement will promptly apprehend those involved in any unlawful activities.
