LAHORE, Dec 05 (APP): Punjab Police have continued its comprehensive welfare initiatives for personnel and their families, with more than Rs1.96 billion spent so far during the current year.
A Punjab Police spokesperson on Friday said that Rs599.15 million were disbursed as educational scholarships for the children of police employees, while wedding grants amounting to over Rs540 million were provided to their families.
He said more than Rs299.90 million were released for the medical treatment of police personnel and their families. Retirement grants totalling Rs258.15 million and subsistence allowances exceeding Rs191.90 million were also issued. In addition, Rs 59.75 million were allocated for funeral expenses, while more than Rs17.86 million were provided as immediate financial assistance.
The IGP said that the Police Welfare Fund and revenue generated through welfare initiatives were being effectively utilised to meet the needs of the force and their families. He added that the Punjab Police had also signed MOUs with leading hospitals and educational institutions to ensure quality healthcare and education for police employees and their dependents.
