Punjab Police intensify crackdown on illegal kite flying in Sargodha division

SARGODHGA, Feb 06 (APP):Punjab police on Friday launched a major operation against illegal kite flying and the use of dangerous metallic kite strings across the division.
The crackdown was part of efforts to enforce the Anti-Kite Flying Act and ensure public safety.
The operation covers several districts,including Bhakkar,Khushab,Mianwali and Sargodha.
According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Asif Shehzad Khan,any form of kite flying outside approved regulations was now deemed intolerable.
He emphasized that violators will face strict legal action,adding that in Lahore, Basant festivities were only permitted on specific days under government guidelines.
435 cases have been filed under the Anti-Kite Flying Act, resulting in the arrest of numerous suspects.
During the operation,authorities seized 4,568 kites and 1,108 reels of kite string.
In Sargodha alone, 216 cases were registered,177 arrests were made and 1,755 kites and 1,422 reels of string were confiscated.
RPO Khan also called for action against online vendors selling metallic kite strings and kites.
He urged parents to keep their children away from this hazardous activity to protect lives and asked citizens to report any illegal kite flying by calling 15.
