Punjab police disburses Rs308m for welfare of police personnel children

LAHORE, Jun 09 (APP): Punjab Police has disbursed over Rs 308.4 million over the past two years for the treatment and rehabilitation of special needs children of serving police employees across various districts.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, as part of this initiative, Rs 71.7 million was allocated for cochlear implant surgeries of 41 children suffering from hearing impairments, 654 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy received Rs 10,000 monthly stipends, totaling over Rs 126.8 million, 161 children affected by thalassemia were provided with Rs 15,000 per month, amounting to Rs 52.78 million in medical support, Rs 10.2 million was spent on treatment of 162 children with various hearing disorders, 181 children battling serious illnesses were granted over Rs 36.8 million for their medical care: Rs 10 million was awarded as scholarships to 58 special needs students pursuing education. Additionally, 131 physically challenged children of police personnel were provided with wheelchairs.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that comprehensive steps are being taken for the treatment, rehabilitation and welfare of special needs children of police employees. “We are fully committed to making the lives of these children more dignified and easier through sustained welfare efforts,” said IG Punjab.
