LAHORE, Jun 23 (APP): Punjab Police arrested 83 drug peddlers during 161 intelligence-based operations conducted across the province, including in Lahore, within 24 hours under the vision of a drug-free Punjab.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, the operations led to the recovery of 26 kilograms of charas and 997 litres of liquor from the accused.
The spokesperson further informed that during the ongoing year, police carried out 39,457 operations targeting drug dealers, resulting in the arrest of 21,740 individuals. The recovered contraband during this period included 11,344 kilograms of charas, 294 kilograms of opium, 630 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), and over 288,000 litres of liquor.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, directed officers to continue special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. He emphasised that those involved in the drug supply chain must be brought to justice and face strict legal consequences.
