LAHORE, Jul 08 (APP):Punjab police conducted 335 combing operations targeting criminal elements, during which 10,406 individuals were screened and 22 suspicious persons were taken into custody over the past 24 hours across the province.
According to a Punjab police spokesperson, 21 search-and-sweep operations were carried out, during which over 2,360 individuals were interrogated and two suspects were detained. In targeted actions, police also apprehended 86 proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes, 43 court absconders, and 20 habitual criminals.
A significant quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of suspects and criminals during the operations.
Moreover, eight criminals were neutralized, while another eight were arrested in injured condition during encounters, the spokesperson added.
Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar has directed that search, sweep, and combing operations will continue across the province during Muharram to apprehend anti-state and criminal elements and to ensure law and order.
