LAHORE, Mar 01 (APP): Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem and Secretary Home Punjab Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office to review progress of the ongoing campaign for the evacuation of illegal foreign nationals across the province, here on Sunday.
Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners from all districts, including Lahore, along with senior police officials, participated via video link.
Addressing the meeting, the IG and Secretary Home stressed that in view of the current border situation and security concerns, police and district administration must remain on high alert. They directed that the evacuation of all illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans, be accelerated, and strict action taken against those providing shelter, employment, or business facilities to illegal residents.
Officials were instructed to ensure proper arrangements for transport, accommodation, and food at holding points, while maintaining robust security during their temporary stay. Intelligence from Special Branch, CTD, and other security agencies will be fully utilized, and the identification and screening process of illegal residents strengthened.
The Punjab Police spokesperson shared that over the past 11 months, more than 32,730 illegal foreign nationals have been deported, including 12,356 men, 6,673 women, and 13,700 children. Among them, 10,441 had proof of residence, 11,098 held Afghan Citizen Cards, and 11,190 were entirely undocumented. Currently, 346 illegal residents remain at various holding points across the province.
Senior officers including Additional IG Operations Muhammad Ali Nekokara, Additional IG Special Branch Imran Ahmer, and AIG Operations Punjab attended the meeting.
