RAWALPINDI, Jun 26 (APP):Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, accompanied by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz Alpa, reviewed security arrangements and inspected the main Ashura procession routes here on Friday.
The delegation visited key congregation points, including Committee Chowk and Iqbal Road, where the minister met mourners and inquired about on-ground safety measures. Accompanied by senior administration officials, the Minister also met with organizers of Madrassa Taleem-ul-Quran.
The officials from the district and police administration, Rescue 1122, WASA, RWMC, Civil Defence and other relevant departments were also present on the occasion.
The officials conducted a detailed assessment of drinking-water points, placement of medical camps, rescue services and the traffic-management plan along the procession routes to ensure timely support and crowd safety.
“All arrangements for the peaceful conduct of Ashura are in place and all departments are present in the field with coordination,” Minister Bharth said.
He added that the Punjab government has deployed all available resources to maintain law and order and to provide the best possible facilities for mourners.
The inspection team later visited the Punjab Safe City control room to review city-wide monitoring of processions. Commissioner Khattak said a foolproof security plan is being implemented and continuous surveillance is being maintained
through Safe City cameras and modern monitoring systems to promptly detect and respond to any incidents.
Authorities confirmed that all relevant agencies will remain on duty from start to finish of the processions to ensure cleanliness, an uninterrupted water supply, rescue and medical assistance, and the enforcement of alternate traffic arrangements.
The official emphasized that protecting the lives and property of mourners, preserving public order, and delivering robust administrative services are shared responsibilities among the responsible and participating departments.
