Punjab govt to spend over Rs20 bln annually on honorarium for mosque imams

LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that the Punjab government will spend more than Rs. 20 billion annually on the Chief Minister Punjab Honorary Imam Masjid Sahiban Program.
He was presiding over a meeting held at the Home Department on Wednesday to review the progress and implementation of the program. During the meeting, the aims and objectives of the initiative were discussed in detail, while concerned officers gave a comprehensive briefing. The participants appreciated the Chief Minister’s initiative to introduce an honorary award for mosque imams and issued important instructions to ensure its early implementation.
The minister stated that honorariums would be provided to Imams of mosques across Punjab, adding that the program reflects the government’s commitment to supporting religious leadership and promoting social harmony.
On the occasion, Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the Punjab government has entrusted the Home Department with the responsibility of completing all processing related to the Honorary Award for Imams of Mosques Program.
Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhutta was also present at the meeting. Other participants included COO Bank of Punjab Nofeil Dawood, DIG CTD, Additional Secretary Abdul Rauf, DIG Special Branch, AIG Operations, Deputy Secretary Revenue Department, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Faisal Yousaf, Director Law Shahid Imtiaz, and senior officers from relevant departments.
