LAHORE, Jan 27 (APP):The Punjab government continues to take significant steps towards enhancing its waste management system with a focus on improving cleanliness across the province.
According to Lahore Waste Managment Company sources here on Monday
a  comprehensive training program for ‘Tehsil Monitoring Officers’ was recently held at the company’s training center. This program aimed to address operational challenges related to cleanliness in Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana covering key areas such as building effective relationships with stakeholders ensuring timely completion of contractors’ work and formulating human resource policies and procedures.
In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directives a monitoring system is being established at the provincial, district and tehsil levels to standardize and improve the quality of cleanliness in every street and locality.
To bring about a “Zero Waste Revolution” in Punjab, special training for monitoring officers is being conducted to enforce strict cleanliness measures and take firm action against negligence.
As part of this initiative, trackers would be installed on waste collection vehicles and a six-member monitoring committee headed by the Assistant Commissioner would be formed in each tehsil.
Additionally, more than 21,000 cleaning machines and over 83,000 cleaning tools had been provided across the province. The government is also making progress in implementing door-to-door waste collection in Lahore’s 1.5 million households through the outsourcing of solid waste management with the ongoing deployment of loader rickshaws and staff in various union councils.
