LAHORE, Oct 24 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the Punjab government is taking historic steps in the health sector to ensure the provision of the best healthcare facilities to the people.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of private rooms at the Services Hospital Lahore, held at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) on Friday.
The minister said that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the condition of hospitals across the province is continuously improving. “Providing the best health facilities to the people is the top priority of the government,” he added.
Khawaja Salman Rafique lauded the services of doctors and medical teams working in flood-affected areas, saying, “We salute the doctors performing their duties in difficult circumstances. A historic rescue operation was carried out during the recent floods.”
He appreciated the joint efforts of the Health Department, Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, Police, PDMA, and other relevant institutions for their pivotal roles in rescue and relief activities. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, along with cabinet members and concerned departments, remained actively engaged in the field during the entire operation.
“Evacuating flood victims and ensuring their safety was a major challenge, but with the grace of Almighty Allah and the timely strategy of the administration, thousands of lives — both human and animal — were saved,” he added.
The minister emphasized that serving suffering humanity is a noble mission. “By applying ointment to the wounds of the suffering in hospitals, we can achieve success in this world and the hereafter,” he remarked. He reiterated that the government is making every effort to ensure that no patient faces any kind of difficulty in hospitals.
During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed among doctors and staff who rendered exceptional services in the flood-affected areas.
Principal Professor Zohra Khanam, Professor Asad Aslam Khan, MS Dr. Abid Mahmood Ghauri, Professor Shahzad Anwar, and other faculty members also attended the event.
