Punjab Govt releases Rs.690m for Nishtar Hospital cancer centre

MULTAN, Jan 30 (APP):In a major boost to healthcare in South Punjab,the Punjab government has released the full allocation of Rs.690 million for the 100-beds Nishtar Hospital cancer centre,here on Friday.
Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Karim Khan has directed the concerned departments to ensure that the facility becomes fully operational by June 2026,allowing patients across the region to access timely and quality cancer care.
Speaking on the occasion,the commissioner said the completion of the Cancer centre would significantly improve access to modern cancer treatment in South Punjab and reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities for specialised medical services.
He termed the project a vital step towards strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
He added that improving public healthcare remains a top priority of Punjab Chief Minister(CM) Maryam Nawaz and noted that health sector initiatives in Multan were progressing rapidly under her leadership.
The Nishtar Hospital Cancer Centre was expected to play a key role in enhancing specialised healthcare services and ensuring equitable access to cancer treatment for patients in the region.
