LAHORE, Nov 29 (APP): Punjab Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that Islam is a religion of peace and security, which teaches tolerance, brotherhood and
unity among Muslims.
He expressed these views during a series of meetings with religious scholars at the Interior Department, held on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The meetings focused on the overall law and order situation in the province and deliberated on ways to strengthen unity among Muslims.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government is working consistently to promote interfaith harmony and unity among Muslims across the province. “There is a dire need today to foster unity among Muslims. The great scholars who strictly follow the commands of Allah Almighty and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are the pride of the Muslim Ummah,” he noted.
Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, who was also present, said that religious scholars have always played a vital role in spreading the message of peace and discouraging violence. “Guiding people toward the true spirit of religion is a great service performed by our respected scholars,” he added.
