Punjab govt presents public-friendly budget: Minister

LAHORE, Jun 13 (APP):Provincial Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) and Law Sohaib Ahmed Bharth has said that the Punjab government has given public friendly  budget with an inimitable relief to low-income citizens of the province in all sectors.
In a statement, he termed this budget as people centric which is the aim of the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The minimum wage of the worker has been increased from thirty-two thousand to thirty-seven thousand which will give a relief to workers. He added the government has taken decisions only to uplift the economy of the country.
Sohaib Ahmad Bharth further said that it has been the top priority of the Chief Minister Punjab to provide maximum relief to the citizens and it is reflected in the provincial budget. The Punjab province is now on the track of unshakable progress and there will be less inflation in days to come, he remarked. The country is coming out of economic crisis which is a good omen, he added. He disclosed that a sufficient budget has been earmarked for road sectors and for the upgradation of existing infrastructure of the province. Five expressways, enhancing connectivity between many districts of the Punjab, would be constructed for which budget has been allocated.
The minister added that as many as 842 billion has been allocated for development sector which is marvelous in the history of Punjab as in previous year it was 655 billion. Around 77 initiatives of the CM Punjab were also included in the budget, and these would be implemented and would be completed within one year. He added that 296 billion has been allocated for repair and rehabilitation of roads, covering an area of 2,380 Kilometers. Moreover, 135 billion has also been kept for 482 road sector schemes. He said that 528 schemes, dumped in Planning & Development, would be started again with an amount of 58 billion. He further said that 31 billion has been allocated for Muzaffargar Alipur and Muhammad Panah road, 13  billion for Multan Vehari road, 12 billion for Burewala Vehari road and 10 billion for upgradation of 581 BHUs in the province.
The Punjab government is also going to pay all bank arrears taken for the purchase of wheat and this is happening for the first in the history of Punjab after 1994. Rs 400 billion for Kisaan Package is also allocated in this budget. Schemes for upgradation of all social sectors are also kept in this budget, he said.
