LAHORE, Nov 01 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a strict province-wide ban on wall chalking, directing authorities to transform defaced and encroached spaces into clean and attractive public areas.
Under her instructions, a historic beautification initiative has been launched to enhance the appearance of cities across Punjab. Officials briefed that 132 beautification schemes worth Rs. 16.5 billion are being implemented in 39 districts, with work already underway on 122 projects.
The CM was informed that beautification schemes in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi will be completed by June 2026. Projects in Multan are scheduled for completion by November, in Gujranwala by December, and 24 schemes in Sahiwal by March 2026.
Officials said the initiative includes the removal of wall chalking from government and private buildings, installation of tuff tiles, and the upgrading of roads and markets. Historic gates and traditional markets will also be remodeled to reflect Punjab’s cultural identity and provide a more appealing urban landscape.
