WAH CANTT, Apr 3 (APP):The Punjab government has greenlit a Rs 3,972.617 million project to preserve and promote Taxila’s world heritage sites.
The project, spanning three years, aims to conserve archaeological sites, enhance tourism infrastructure, and improve visitor experiences.
Deputy Director of Archaeology and Museum, Asim Dogar, revealed that the project will establish Taxila as a “heritage zone”. A gateway to Taxila, inscribed with Buddha stories, will be built on Museum Road. Two new galleries with 40 showcases will display antiquities discovered in the past two decades.
The project includes establishing 14 parks with tourist spots and an art and craft bazaar to promote local handicrafts.
The initiative will also focus on sustainable tourism and protecting museum collections.The project is scheduled for completion in 2028, with various components to be implemented in phases.
