Punjab Food Authority cracks down on substandard food in Chiniot

CHINIOT, Jul 18 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority Chiniot’s food safety teams, led by Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza, have been actively conducting inspections to ensure the quality of essential commodities.
In this regard, a total of 105 inspections were carried out, resulting in the issuance of reform notices to several food businesses. Fines amounting to Rs 53,000 were imposed on violators, highlighting the authority’s commitment to enforcing food safety laws.
     According to the details, during the inspections, 7 kg of substandard chillies, 8 liters of expired vinegar, and 1 kg of various expired items were destroyed on the spot. Additionally, poor cleaning arrangements were observed at non-food shops and snack points, and workers were found without medical screening certificates.
   The Punjab Food Authority also conducted checks on milk samples from milk trucks and shops using the Lacto Scan machine. Heavy fines were imposed on vendors found selling poor-quality milk.
