CHINIOT, Dec 26 (APP):On the directives of the Director General Punjab Food Authority, food safety teams in Chiniot on Frida intensified operations under a special food safety mission aimed at ensuring the supply of safe and quality food.
Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza while exclusively talking to APP, stated that inspections were carried out across the district, targeting sweets and bakeries units, outlets, and food points. As a result of serious violations of food laws, heavy fines were imposed on several well-known sweets and bakery businesses.
He revealed that inspections uncovered alarmingly poor hygiene and improper storage arrangements, leading to fines totaling Rs. 106,000.
In addition, more than one maund of adulterated milk was seized and destroyed on the spot. The teams also recovered and disposed of over one kilogram of expired food items and outdated cold drinks, reaffirming the authority’s zero-tolerance policy against substandard and unsafe food practices.
