LAHORE, Dec 18 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the plan for the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Stroke Management Program is in its final stages across the province.
Presiding over a meeting held on Thursday at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department to review progress on the initiative, he said that currently 14 primary stroke centers are operational in Punjab and stressed that raising public awareness about stroke symptoms and timely treatment is crucial.
The Health Minister said that the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Stroke Management Program will be highly beneficial for stroke patients, as it aims to expand and strengthen treatment facilities across the province. He added that the core objective of this unique initiative is to ensure timely access to quality stroke care, which can significantly reduce mortality and long-term disability.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood Khan said that once implemented, the program will help reduce the patient load at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences. He added that efforts are being made to provide quality healthcare services at the doorstep of the people.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee for Cardiology Dr. Farqad Alamgir, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razaq, Special Secretary Development Benish Fatima Sahi, Additional Secretary Procurement Fatima Noreen, and other officials.
